Bastrop is the ideal community. Located for an easy commute to downtown Austin, San Antonio or Houston, we also offer the “small town atmosphere” in which many families choose to live and enjoy their lives. Families can participate in youth baseball, basketball, soccer, football, tennis, and other team sports. After-school gymnastics, taekwondo, and art courses are available, and much more! Dozens of non-profit civic organizations offer numerous community service opportunities. Musical, comedy and other cultural productions are held throughout the year at the historic Bastrop Opera House, a fine old theater built in 1889. First run movies, bowling, a video arcade, a food court and a pool room are available at the Chestnut Square Family Entertainment Center. Bastrop has festivals, parades and other events throughout the year.
